Education: University of North Dakota, Washington State University's College of Veterinary Medicine
Dr. Jackie Schmid grew up on a farm in North Dakota where she always had a dream of being a veterinarian, but ended up graduating from the University of North Dakota with a degree in Geological Engineering instead. Her first job out of college was working on the MX missle in Anaheim, CA. After achieving her “rocket scientist” status, she moved to Southeastern Washington state and worked at the Hanford Nuclear Site as a hazardous waste engineer. Her travels then took her to live on a dairy farm, operate a fresh produce business, and work as a flood engineer for the Skagit Valley river system. Her dream of being a veterinarian was rekindled while living on the dairy, so she decided to go back to school, graduating from Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Schmid worked in Boise, ID for three years. She moved back to North Dakota and joined Casselton Veterinary Service in May 2009. In April 2015, she went traveling again and experienced other practices. She returned to Casselton Veterinary Service in September 2016. She is really excited to be back with old friends and new; and is looking forward to keeping your furry family members healthy, happy, and safe!
